Hi everyone, I just signed up today but have been lurking for a long time. I have one laying hen of an unknown age a RSL. She typically lays every day for 6-8 days then takes a day off. I also have 15 pullets that are 14 weeks 3 day old (4 BOs, 4 BSL, 4 polish, and 3 EEs). None of them have combs that look large enough or red enough to lay. I went out to the coop at one today because I expected her egg at about 12. To my surprise there were 2 eggs. The other was slightly lighter in color and had one very slightly misshapen spot, but was the same size. So now I’m driving myself nuts trying to figure out if one of my pullets started to lay or if ginger the RSL somehow layed two eggs at once. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I definitely got the egg the day before no question about that. It either had to have come for the rsl or one of the 14 weekers. Is it ever possible for a hen to lay 2 eggs at once? She was acting strange when I let her out in the morning. She was pacing the fence and making her upset sound. She would stop for a few seconds and eat a few bites of food then go right back to Pacing and complaining. I left for a bit then went back out when I got home. There then were two eggs and a all chickens were acting normal. Two of the BOs do squat when I try to pet them but again their combs don’t look anywhere near ready to lay and the egg was normal size. So basically I’m just curious if anyone know which has a greater probability, a RSL laying two eggs at once or a 14 week old laying.

My bad. I’ve heard of hens laying early in combination with using artificial lighting. Still not a good thing to do though
Well, Pullets can not be brought into lay by anything?...They lay when their Body is ready and they mature enough to lay....
