Mystery egg

So true. How long have you been keeping poultry @chickens really?
5 years but been around the silly things all my life...My first pet was a RIR Chick when I was 5...Penny was her name...I love Ducks and take in rescues too...The Chickens are here and treated great, just not my favourite....

I too have been around animals all my life! I have had pets for the past 16 years. I’m taking a gap year abroad now and these past 2 months and the next 4 months are going to be so hard! My flock had to be rehomed (neighbor issues, :( the jerks) but I’m getting 6 female chicks when I get back in March and I can’t wait. :)
PS how do you do the emojis. I can only do smiley and sad faces.

Hi everyone, I just signed up today but have been lurking for a long time. I have one laying hen of an unknown age a RSL. She typically lays every day for 6-8 days then takes a day off. I also have 15 pullets that are 14 weeks 3 day old (4 BOs, 4 BSL, 4 polish, and 3 EEs). None of them have combs that look large enough or red enough to lay. I went out to the coop at one today because I expected her egg at about 12. To my surprise there were 2 eggs. The other was slightly lighter in color and had one very slightly misshapen spot, but was the same size. So now I’m driving myself nuts trying to figure out if one of my pullets started to lay or if ginger the RSL somehow layed two eggs at once. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
It's possible for a new layer to pop out two eggs on the same day, one is usually soft shelled, but not that common.
Here's some tips for telling who is laying and who is not:
