Hi All,

We got a mystery pullet from the hatchery, the black one on the left of the picture. Any idea what she is? We're new to this and are still learning, right now our best guess is Jersey Giant...she's smaller than everyone (we actually call her Smalls), but I've read the Jersey Giants are slow to mature.

(Side note, I was going to crop this picture down to just her, but I have to love the Buff Orpington mooning the camera in the back!!)

I can't tell from the picture, but is the bird single-combed? It doesn't appear to be. Do you have any other pictures of the bird in question? It's hard to make out, but it almost looks like a male. I've seen subordinate cockerels stay underdeveloped when larger, more dominant males are present. I'd almost swear there are pointed hackle feathers and it looks like curve (possibly pointed) saddle feathers and what looks like sickles developing.

I hope it's not male! I'm already trying to rehome the extra one I have. These pictures might be a bit more clear. It's hard to get a good shot, they're out puddle jumping after last night's big storms.
