I have 3 laying hens. They give me 6 eggs/week each like clockwork. 2 brown and 1 green. Yesterday, I only got 2 brown eggs. Today, I found 3 brown and 1 green. One of the brown eggs is smaller than the others.

I bought my chicks at the end of February. I bought 2 turkens, 2 BLR Wyandottes, 1 Blue Laced Wyandotte, and a Cochin. The turkens looked to be a couple of weeks older when I bought them. Are any of those breeds known for laying especially early? The oldest any of them can be is 4 months, but I know that one of them laid that egg, unless my RIR or my Barred Rock did double duty today.

My earliest layer was at 16 weeks. I have had a few occasions over the years where I have had more eggs than layers. I suspect that for whatever reason an egg could be layed while forming another egg so later in the day or very early in the morning they may lay a second egg. Just my opinion.
