Mystery lump

I would go ahead and treat with Tylan injectable, but give it orally without the needle. What strength is it? A vet appointment is great if you can see one.
The vet confirmed it was an infection that was encapsulated. I suspect a peck or scratch is what started it. The vet had to slice it open and she removed a very small amount of material. She gave me a prescription ointment with antibiotics and some cortisone in it to use on the wound three times a day. She told me that these encapsulated infections will not go away on their own. She did not recommend any oral antibiotics. I need to keep her in a cool, fly free area for a few days until she heals. Thank you so much for sticking with me through this!

Just wondering what antibiotic did the vet prescribe?
It’s Neo Poly Dex . It’s an eye ointment the vet originally said to keep using Terramycin, but said “, no, maybe this will work better.” But, she isn’t getting any better. The lump is larger, and she keeps rubbing it on her back and scratching at it. The vet did tell me that any antibiotics I could buy without a prescription wouldn’t help. I guess I will call them back on Monday and maybe she will prescribe something oral. I just don’t know what else to do for my girl. I’m very sad and frustrated. I’m keeping her inside away from flies, heat, and any pecks she might receive. I’m letting her out in the evenings to free range with her friends which she seems to enjoy. I’ve been trying to feed her healthy treats such as hard boiled egg with fresh oregano, and ground flax seeds with yogurt.

If you go back and look at the link in post 3 for Tylan (tylosin) powder for the water, that is a prescription drug, but you can get it without one from Jedds. Tylan can treat it if it is caused by MG. It certainly would not hurt to try it.
