Mystery Mutt

We had a friend buy a rooster at the flea market and we ended up taking home one fertilized egg that hatched. Trying to figure out what the little peep is going to end up looking like - it's definitely a mutt but would love if we could figure out what the dad is and what the chick will end up looking like.


Here's the roo



The mom was a Speckled Sussex and here's the little mutt as a hatchling.



At about a week to two weeks




And here at 3.5 weeks.




Any ideas?

That chick is going to be a silver partridge type coloring. It may end up looking similar in coloring to a Dark Brahma or Silver Penciled Rock. Given the amount of patterning on the chest, and the lack of silver patches of the shoulder area, the chick is likely a pullet.

The rooster is likely has some Silkie in his make-up.

Dad is defiantly a silkie cross.
I've had/seen several Speckled Sussex crosses and all of them have had some red in their chest in the end.
