Hello all, I have just adopted a young rooster from a lady who was unable to keep him. She just said "he's mixed" Ohhh, no kidding. haha

He's an original alright... I would absolutely love to know what breeds he is... he has black feathers on his feet, blue ears, a dark blue/black comb and black beak... his tail is dark green, his wings are a dark toffee brown with black feathers underneath... at the base of his tail he has black fluffy feathers, almost fuzzy looking.

His head is a dark caramel colour with red, getting lighter down his neck, he's almost gold where his neck meets his body. He has remarkably few 'normal' feathers.. they're all thin fronds, so he always looks messy, like he just took a tumble in the dryer. He is very very shiny..

He's absolutely beautiful, I just love him... but I'd like to find some compatible hens for him over the summer, as he gets older.
He only weighs about three pounds right now and he's not a hefty built bird... he's currently in with Bruce, my mature rooster, and my 8 red sexlink hens.

We're making a separate area for him this weekend. As much as Bruce is currently completely ignoring him, we don't think that will last when he matures. He's a sweetheart. Timid, and takes high, deliberate steps, like a showpony.

If anyone has any idea, I'd be very grateful... we are located in New Brunswick, Canada, in case that's helpful :)

Thank you!!!

He's a Silky X frizzle and silky or cochin bantam hens would pair nicely with him.

Oh thank you! I was looking through the 'check out my rooster' post and there was a Silkie x Frizzle there and that was the closest I'd seen yet, but the colours were totally different... thank you! Now to find him some gal pals...

I'm going to guess silkieXEE, with a frizzle gene

Hi, yes sorry I misread the original reply... I've looked into it further.. I appreciate the info, I've only had laying hens and Meat Kings and white turkeys before, the more elaborate, fancy breeds I have no experience with at all... I just knew he needed a home and he was beautiful, the rest I"m learning on the go. lol Thank you!!
