hello all of you --

my maternal grandmother paid for my mom's piano lessons with eggs. my paternal grandfather was one of the first people in the USA to raise Araucanas, along with other breeds standard and show.

So, I have chickens in my DNA and always wanted to have some.

my daughter was 30 when she first had chickens, a couple were Ameraucanas
and she'd had no clue about her great-grandfather's role with them.

more recently, staying home more due to covid guidelines, she added 2 chicks to her 3 hens. one turned out to be a rooster which is against the rules in her neighborhood.

I am now 65 and a couple weeks in to having her Sunny and SweetPea in my small storage barn. From day one they have had a calming almost sedative effect on me.

SweetPea is an adorable Calico Princess, and no one knows yet what Sunny is. Maybe he's a mix. I will try to post a photo of him, and would like it if anyone can identify his breed (s). He was supposed to be a Black Australorp hen, I think. His dark parts have green and there is brown on his wings.
