Mystery - who is laying what

Pull them off the roost early in the morning and crate them for a day or two by themselves if you really want to know.

They'll lay, you can ID the egg, and keep track.
I wonder if that might stress them out and they might not lay...... unless one is already in the pipes?
I did have to isolate a bird with a hurt leg for about a week and she laid regularly in the crate, but she was a mellow bird and crate was right in the coop.

That is a great idea. This I can do. Thanks for the idea.
Let us know how it works out.

I haven't had to do it yet, but I am always amazed at the birds at the local fair who don't seem to miss a beat. I wouldn't think it would be too bad if they were in normal surroundings. But of course I could be wrong.

Quote: I imagine some wouldn't skip a beat, others would freak out.
I'll find out as I may try this to sort the culling order this fall, a couple lay funky eggs and they'll be stew instead of sold, but not positive who is who.

How do the trail cams work? Do they need a router or wifi or do they just shoot video/picture that you can look at when you get home?
Have not looked at those because I was wanting sound and want to view it on phone or laptop. Will look into it. Thanks

Trail cams usually come with an SD card (cheaper) and/or a cellular/ wifi/bluetooth connection (more expensive).

Get a cheaper one with an SD card and you don't have to worry about wifi signal.

Just pull the card every few days and download the photos.

That is worth a try. I would love to have sound to hear the egg songs and any commotion/predator that may visit.
