This morning I went to my coop and I had two eggs. A few minutes ago I went to my coop to see how many eggs I had and I had one egg, and I filtered threw all of the nests and to find that my second egg has disappeared, then in the corner there is place that looks like someone has nested there well I get on my knees and filter threw the place and no egg then I went to the run no egg or egg carnage then I go back to the house no egg carnage there. Are they eating eggs or some other thing?

Incase it matters
I have only been getting one egg for a few days

Edited for a mistake

Hate to suggest this after you've just rifled through all that nesting material with your hands but... snake or a rat?

Probably not a snake its 35 to 40 degrees here.

It's cold here too, but my rat snakes apparently don't know it. If it were chickens, you would see traces of yolk or shell in places, even on their faces.

Snake, rat, squirrel? Time to get the hardware cloth out!

You know I had a chicken lay an egg in the corner near their pen but outside, it's hard to explain. It was in a corner and hard to get at. I thought "I'm not crawling in there to night I'll get it tomorrow". Well the next day it was gone. What I did find out was there was a blasted chipmunk. I'm just surprised they can take it w/o breaking it. Something amiss,
That would be my guess. I think I have a squirell visiting now. I'm going to set a trap.

snake, rat or egg eater.

When I see an egg, I bring it in.

I had something similar happen to me. I checked on the girls and there were 2 eggs. I went to the shed to get some more straw for the nest box, came back (not even 2 minutes later) and there was just one egg. I searched and searched and searched some more. Never found the egg,or indications that an egg was there. My coop is very predator proof, I have never had a problem with snakes or rats

Chickens can eat an egg, shell and all, with no trace, in a very short amount of time. My silkies don't deliberately eat their eggs, but if one breaks, it's an All-You-Can-Eat festival. They have that thing gone in 60 seconds.
