Sexed the 6 turkeys correctly when they were about 2 weeks. I used the vent sexing method. Boys had vents that poked out, & females have flat vents.
There were equally 3 Jennies, & 3 Jakes.

All of them.

I never tried that method because I had heard it was dangerous for the poults... but I believe they were expressing the vent to see

Have you thought about using genetic hackle fowl for your pelts? I would imagine it would add some value to them. I'm on a FB group and I've seen a few people with flocks of hackle fowl for sale.

No one needs a feather that long for Fly Tying. Only about 3 inches, give or take are used on a feather that long.

I don’t do fly tying personally. I think they get several lures from each long feather.
