I tried to explain to her what the float test only tells you, & her response when I brought up the moisture loss, was "It means they're old."
So, yeah she's not gonna listen to real knowledge on the subject.

She is sort-of right: larger air cell makes them float, and larger air cell usually is found in older eggs.

I agree it doesn't tell anything about whether the egg is rotten or safe to eat, and it only gives a guess about how old the eggs are.

If you really want to try to prove something to her, maybe try having you or her write the date on each egg the day it is collected, then after a while try float testing those dated eggs. If she writes the dates and she floats the eggs, it may be more convincing.

On the other hand, if she does not want to learn anything more on the subject, she can continue to give perfectly good eggs to your chickens. I don't see many downsides to that either.

It was a clutch of eggs that was found this morning. It's also been cool like a refrigerator outside as well.
I know the age of the eggs as I hear the pullets singing in that place where the eggs were found over the course of a few days. She has about maybe 18 pullets.

I hadn't realized it was a matter of sorting eggs from a hidden nest. I had been assuming it was eggs from her fridge or counter or something.

I suppose the float test somewhat makes sense in that case, since she was not confident about the age of the eggs.

I suppose you could crack one of the "rotten" eggs into a bowl and show her that it's fine, but it's probably much easier to just let your chickens enjoy the eggs any time the situation happens again. And maybe have a quiet laugh to yourself, but not where she can hear

She float tests refrigerator eggs too after a certain point. The last time she was sorting eggs, she had hard boiled eggs mixed in. These were eggs she was sorting for selling, so I wondered how many people got a hard boiled egg, or 2 in their cartons.

I was gonna do an experiment with the float test, from counter top eggs that are just 1-2 days old, 3-5 days old, a week old, & a month old.
Even eggs straight from the hen the same day will float sometimes.

There are ways to test for hard boiled eggs too, but I don't think floating is one of them.

Writing "boiled" on every egg works too, but takes a lot more time.
