I read article after article on Foster Hens. Yes, Yes, Yes! My Easter Egger Bantam is raising two (one week old) chicks and three (two weeks old) chicks. The first night she rejected the chicks.I read an article that said to give the broody hen an egg shell and she will peck on it. I did this and she accepted all five chicks. I wish that I could share this with everyone to get rid of the pessimistic myths about EES not going broody because it is bred out of them and hens will kill the chicks. These are not always the case. My EE Bantams came from Murray McMurray Hatcheries. Three out of four went broody at one year of age. One is raising foster chicks and one is setting on seven eggs.
