My neighbor says all her purchased tomato plants are cherry toms, not canning. She said this happened last year too. Marked as a beefsteak, but obviously not.
that's why I save my seeds.

Sometimes we just need to keep talkingI never shut up do I![]()
One of my reasons. Another reason: the seeds were "born" there; this is their 2nd or 3rd generation living here. Third reason: once I have them, I have them, and I don't need to depend on a seed company offering them for sale.that's why I save my seeds.
But that’s why we’re all here, to talk. Keep doing what you’re doing, you’re interesting.I never shut up do I![]()
You aren’t throwing some of your chicken poop around to amend for the limas? Shame shameYou need to stop bragging, very unbecoming.I have tried limas a few times and every time I get the plant and no beans, and I have low nitrogen soil and don’t add any back for beans. But my peas and green beans do very well

I guess so? I had like 12 and was giving bags away every other day. Our chickens wouldn’t eat them but one lady I gave them t her chickens loved them! I had some that dried on the stalk bc I gave up picking itPlanted Okra last year, two plants, and realized that in order to get meaningful harvests at any given time you need to plant a bunch of them…..or am I wrong?
I absolutely did that this year!!! I've only ever grown indeterminates so I just went about it, business as usual, single leader etc. OOOPS. More than half my plants are determinate.I'm such an idiot. I haven't grown any type of paste tomatoes in quite a few years, this year I did because I want to make lots of tomato soup. Well I forgot I grew them & had just been plucking off all the suckers like normal till I saw the first small roma shaped tomato. Now I have the worlds smallest amish paste & roma plants going. So much for a good tomato harvest.
Nope, I‘m not. I don’t augment any of my peas or beans other than maybe an initial feed when planting with a general fertilizer. You aren’t throwing some of your chicken poop around to amend for the limas? Shame shame
Beautiful!Garden tour pt. 2...
Butternut squash growing on top of chicken run compost pile are starting to cascade over the sides of the pallets. The tomatoes on the side are volunteers that sprouted out of the chicken run bedding.

I think the tomato plants in the new plot that has acidic soil are doing better since I treated around them with dolomitic lime. Maybe it's my imagination, but they seem to be deeper green, more lush and growing.

Hatch peppers from grocery store pepper, and some jalapenos. The habaneros I planted from grocery store pepper seeds seem to be a bust. They're setting buds and blooming but there are no peppers.
