What did you do in the garden today?

The larger of the melon plants is finally starting to vine out. Hope we have a warm fall because I don’t think I will get anything off them otherwise. Squash still hasn’t made any female blossoms either. :barnie

Still seeing pollinators though! Had to hold the furball back from going after a bumblebee visiting one of the cucumbers. Still seeing hummingbirds and hoverflies too.

that's why I save my seeds.

One of my reasons. Another reason: the seeds were "born" there; this is their 2nd or 3rd generation living here. Third reason: once I have them, I have them, and I don't need to depend on a seed company offering them for sale.
All of this! It’s been so long since I saw the packet I’m not even 100% sure what variety of peas I’m growing at this point, so I might be in trouble if I ever have to buy replacements.

My one dog (who is 170 pounds) goes after bees all the time. He is super clumsy but somehow still gets stung in the mouth at least 3 times a year

I got a couple more dry beans.

97* and super high humidity. Farmer up the road lost 2 calves to this heat, so I've brought my chickens in the house for a day or two. 4 pet play pens ( 2 in the spare bedroom, 2 in the bathroom), 3 chickens to each pen. Cleaning every hour on the hour and even that doesn't seem like its enough! Break out the Odoban when this is over! My whole house is going to get disinfected! Yuck!!!!

But so much better than a dead chicken!

Ripped out all my tomato plants last night, will rip out the cucumbers beans and sunflowers tonight. I've got everything I want or everything I'm going to get off of those plants, time to make room and enrich soil for my fall crop.

It finally happened: I got some tomatoes. I have nine plants... NINE! Please let the season extend into October...

This tomato is taking forever to ripen. And I’m not sure if I’m happy about that or not… the longer it takes the bigger it gets but I want a big tomato now
I've called a giant tomato's bluff before and pulled it while green to ripen on the counter. Took probably 7-10 days, but the thing made it!
