My flock seems rather edgy, too. Staying close to the bushes and not out in the field so much. The roosters, however, are more quiet than usual. They usually are crowing all day long, but the last few days it's just in the morning. Usually they'll let the girls kind of scatter, but they've been keeping them rather close - if one tries to head out on her own, the head roo will herd her back.
Yep, not quite so much smoke today, but still pretty bad. The fires are still raging; in fact, most of them they're not even working on due to low manpower. I truly feel sorry for and appreciate the heck out of the firefighters. Thankfully, our county has decided to ban the fireworks and cancel the fireworks display. Of course, all the non-profits who sell fireworks are up in arms about them banning them. On one level, I can understand (working for a non-profit myself I know how hard the funding is this year), but come on - do we really need to take this kind of chance to add to the danger.
Hope everyone is well and safe - especially you, panner.
