N.E. Chickenstock 2011!!!!!! Who's up for it??

I want bantam Americauana, bantam blue/wheaten Cochin and lav Orps. What are Tolbunt Polish? My list is getting longer. I think my hubby will be filing for divorce when I come back from this! Is anyone bring Houdans? I just read that they are on this years critical list from the ALBC.

OK, my DH and were discussing this - I don't have cages for my chicks and chickens, and we are going to improvise rather than spend the money on buying them by using laundry baskets wth chicken wire on top - Does anyone have a better idea? Or know of anywhere to buy really cheap, even used, cages??
Thanks

I would check Craigslist for cat carriers or dog crates. You may also be able to borrow what you need for the trip if you have friends with what you need. Your laundry basket plan sounds good too though. I think they'll be fine.

Just for transpot, I buy the Office Depot folding cardboard file boxes. I think you get 5 for 10 bucks or something like that. You can put 3 full grown hens or 2 large roos in them and then I close the lid down with duct tape. When I transport to the butcher, I use them because it doesn't matter if they get dammaged. Plus, you can get multiple uses out of them as long as they don't get wet.

Oh, and I throw a couple handfuls of shavings in the bottom for absorption.

If your only bringing a few chicks-grab the free priority mail boxes-I use them to stick my babies in when I clean their brooders:)-any grocery store has big boxes-liquor stores-etc...just throw shavings in there with them and cut up fruit:)

Let me know (PM me) if anyone is interested in the items listed on pg1 from me. I can send you pics. Sorry about all the roos. I swear this year was the year of the roo. Right now my roos out number the pullets 2:1. I'm always up for a trade.
