I had a wonderful time meeting everyone! And our hosts were fabulous, they even fed me when I rolled in at 1am. Boo to Googlemaps that took me to their house on some back seasonal access road, I was afraid I would get stuck or something, it was very "Stephen King" like!
It was nice to meet people I have chatted with! The name tags sure helped us all find each other. I did have a couple people ask me if I had brought Sacha with me, since my BYC name is Sachasmom... Sacha is my dog.
I did get to leave my husband and son in charge, and they only let two rabbits loose (one of whom is pregnant, of course) I caught the non pregnant one. So I got home at 11:30 last night, put stuff away and had to catch bunnies in the dark!
Thanks to the Marys who wouldn't let me sleep in my car, LOL I figured trying to get people who had been partying to pitch a tent at 1am in the dark/rain wasn't a good idea, so I was just going to snooze in the car.
I came home with Lav silkies from A Happy Chick, Split Silkies from Natalie, and a pair of Splits from UltraClassic. Plus the Ameraucanas and Polish from Crunchie. Oh, and Ameraucana chicks from Bailey? (Sorry, I totally forgot your name, LOL) I sold a bunch of stuff, still putting stuff away and playing musical chickens. I would have spent way way more if I had sold more, LOL I had to be careful not to spend my gas money home!
Having a budget just stinks! I now have more chickens than I do pens, so I need to build another pen.
The pekin ducks I brought were happy to show everyone how ducks can use a rabbit water bottle... I still couldn't convince Bob to let his daughter take them home, even if we snuck one in the Silkie pen.
I said look at how neat they are.. Ok, well, not neat, but less messy?
I even won a heated watering base, and I never win anything! The chickens will thank you this winter!
There was SO much food, it wasn't even funny. I think they could have fed twice as many people!
I had a Polish chick cheep LOUDLY all the way home. Behind my head, of course. FIVE solid hours of cheep. I pulled over, fed them, watered them, and it was quiet, for like ten minutes. Its in the brooder and it seems to finally be happy. Ducks are all outside and making a big muddy mess in their pen.
I'm really sad though, someone accidentally took home the Silkie eggs I won in the egg auction.
I finished packing, and went to get them and they were gone. I guess they figured they were saving them from me, since I stink so bad at incubating.
Or maybe someone thought the eggs on display there were free? LOL Thanks to one of the girls who tried to get me to take her eggs, I just really wanted the Silkies, and nekid neck chickens kinda creep me out, no offense, LOL
I totally need to get a GPS. I got lost on the way home, only I didn't know I was lost until I was more than 20 minutes out of my way!
