My husband thought he and his brother were nice big hens when he brought them home from the feed store a month ago. The brother was a bit aggressive and more sex oriented, thus, went back to the feed store. This fellow is not at all aggressive. He is chasing my favorite non- laying hen.. I don't like to see her running in panic. The 2 layers are fine with his "attention." He does the wing dance, and calls them over to eat a bug he has found. Not hand tame, he's cautious, but not afraid.
He went through a bout of respiratory something or other. I added Sulmet to the water and he was fine in a few days. I had introduced 3 babies with a respiratory problem.
He is young, just grew his tail feathers in. He crows happily, beginning at 6AM.
Pick up only, Somis in Ventura County.
I do have photos, but don't know how to use this upload. I can email them.
4-2-10: I think I will keep him. I feel like I have options now... I have a number to a fellow who will kill and clean for $4. You drop off and pick up a cleaned bird in a plastic bag the next day. I can do this if he gets too obnoxious. That feels better than an unknown fate.. we have lots of cock fighting around here!
