i had a guess at my 3 which may have been more luck than judgement. My cockerel had a slightly raised comb from the day he hatched and my hens did not. I was lucky out of my 3 i got 2 hens.

Probably not reliable way but worked for my 3. (Though my are European breed standard which is a bit different form USA breed standard!)
