I hate how the younger generations can get away with ANYTHING! They can get away with crap EVEN WHILE THEIR PARENTS ARE WATCHING THEM DO IT!at shows when people have the fancy expensive show animals they are always doing the work for the kid and the kid just sits there sometimes watching but more often just on their phone.
at state fair this year I saw this boy that was probably high school and he was just sitting in a chair using his phone while 4 men fitted his goatand even for pigs!! there are adults fitting the pigs while the kids watch!!
I also saw 2 boys who were probably around 10 years old and they were fitting a goat together the goat didn't look very good in the end but good job for fitting your own animal
at the last pig show I was at there was a girl that was probably in high school and there was a man in the wash rack on his knees scrubbing the pig while the girl just stood back and watched!!
you should get Sullivan Supply gift cards and hand them out to kids that are doing their own work. Sullivans Supply is a store with everything you need for your show animals
AMENNNNN!!!!They'll spend the rest of their lives on videogames eating chips and drinking Diet Coke, doing a great impression of a COUCH POTATO!!
Thank you XD
Queen, yes, thank you for venting! Put in your "2 cents" when you need to. AnytimeWhat I hate even more then kids not doing there own work is how much people pay for their animals like our pigs are still show pigs but lower end show pigs the most expensive pig was my oldest sisters pig that costed $500 and the lowest was my pig at $300 so the more you pay the better your pig will look and the Champion Breeding Gilt at state fair cost $4,200 and once you add in the cost of feed and everything else they need it will probably be around $7,000 why would you pay that much for a pig?what are you going to do win at state fair and then what even if you breed her she will never make your money back
and goats are an even better example at this one show someone bought a whether(a castrated male) they payed $42,000 for that goat
what is that teaching your kids? like my dad for the first 3 years I showed bought us commercial pigs that were $60 each and we didn't get any fancy feeds for them we always placed last but I don't even care and then last year because I did really good with my pig(training him not placing good) he got us show pigs they were cheaper then the pigs this year but they did slightly better then the commercial pigs so this year we got better show pigs.
what are you teaching your kids when you pay $42,000 for a goat!!? or $4,200 for a pig? I know that it isn't all about winning and buying the best pig because for however bad your pig looks you can still win showmanship. my last commercial pig was named Napoleon when I had him in showmanship I got a call back but didn't place and last year with my first show pig her name was Biscuit I got 6th place showman so just out of placing but that still proves my point you can do win showmanship even if your animal is awful.
you can buy a champion but you can't buy showmanship
I hate how true that is... our generation is gonna FAIL!What I hate even more then kids not doing there own work is how much people pay for their animals like our pigs are still show pigs but lower end show pigs the most expensive pig was my oldest sisters pig that costed $500 and the lowest was my pig at $300 so the more you pay the better your pig will look and the Champion Breeding Gilt at state fair cost $4,200 and once you add in the cost of feed and everything else they need it will probably be around $7,000 why would you pay that much for a pig?what are you going to do win at state fair and then what even if you breed her she will never make your money back
