Well, I disagree with NYREDS and MayberrySaint about supporting NAIS.
I have educated myself, and have regular phone conversations with my state's legislatures and with associations that support NAIS, USDA, and Texas Animal Health Commission.
What I have found out, is that, of the companies we spoke to that promote NAIS were only aware of what NAIS will do concerning the large beef cattle producers. They didn't even know it would encompass all livestock, even fish hatcheries.
Some of them are now lobbying for revisions on the NAIS bill, since they now have more information than was supplied to them from the committee's for NAIS. They didn't want to have to pay to ID their farm chickens.
If this is not a proposed money making scheme of the government, then why did they give projections of how much revenue just the premise ID would generate in five years and beyond? The Premise ID is just one of the first steps in the NAIS plan.
I suggest to NYREDS and Mayberry Saint to check into NAIS a little deeper. There is no evidence that this will prevent any kind of disease. It was first implemented for large cattle producers to able to export beef with less cost.
