As far as I understand, no, the ordinary chicks are not carriers. The carriers are those with incomplete naked necks, mostly bald but with the bow tie of feathers. The bow tie chicks have one normal gene and one naked gene. No bow tie means two naked genes. No nakedness means two normal genes.Right my chicks are older now and I'll be posting pics of them soon. Now I have more questions. Because I have 3 that did not come out with naked necks are they still Gene carriers? I.e would I be able to sell them as naked neck Gene carrying hens/roos?.
And how to tell male naked necks from females? Asking as 2 have really reddish neck on the sides could be sun burn even tho they are in a covered sheltered area?
How old are yours?Got pictures of 2 out of the 3 naked necks. While doing the pictures I found to my horror that the only 3 lace Wyandottes I managed to hatch all look male *cry's*.
