Hey you found this thread.

George's not a pure BR.. he has white legs, BR are supposed to have yellow legs. He may be one of those sex link roosters or just a general backyard mix. He also looks Bb+.. barring is sex linked dominant(that is why barring is used in some sex linked matings) so half of the chicks, both sexes in your case will be barred.

Yes, he's definately not a Pure BR, I knew this when I bought him. You will notice that his sickle feathers, and just about every feather, is black with barring at the very tip. He definately has RIR blood ( a couple of red feathers ), and I was thinking maybe australorp? I'll just call him a Black star? I dunno? Either way, I'm still soooo excited about those eggs hatching. This is a Turken thread, not a mutt thread.

Just a little add on-----

What do you think about breeding a turken hen to a silver phoenix roo? That would be absolutely crazy looking!

Hi! Those are precious, just precious!
I finally figured out why the girls in my blue/splash Frizzle Naked Neck Green-Egger pen 'quit laying'. THEY HADN'T QUIT ---one of the hens had turned into an egg-eater and was breaking and eating them as soon as they were laid.
I hated to think that was what was happening, but I watched her lay an egg and turn right around and eat it.

Nava,

You're asking about lacing right? This one definitely is usable for producing laced birds. It has several of the necessary genes.. just get them pure for those and the lacing will be more complete. Are you going to try for laced birds too? Cute babies you're spreading around, btw!

Starting to see some beginnings of lacing on some of the sebright crosses here, can't wait to see how they turn out.

Lisa, that's horrible. If you can't separate or cull her out.. combination of fake eggs and giving all eggs she can eat until she gets bored sometimes works.. usually is very hard to break of.

I've got one egg breaker. She doesn't eat them... just smashes them and makes a huge mess. I've been collecting eggs 3+ times a day so she doesn't get a chance to break anything... and leaving ceramic eggs in the boxes. Hopefully this will fix the problem.

So, has anyone had issues with their naked necks pecking each other? I have my 7 four week old bantam NN chicks in a large brooder and they have been pecking each other on the backs of the necks and head. It was never more than a wee little scratch until today. Today I had to separate one of the boys from the rest because he had a pretty big wound on the back of his neck up by his head. I cleaned his wound and put some Rooster Booster Pick-No-More Lotion on his wound. Poor boy seems sad to be all alone in his own brooder... but I can't put him back in with the others and just have them possibly make it worse

. I've never had chicks go after each other like this... is this typical NN behavior?
