Naked Neck/Turken Thread

ya he is cuckoo. it is not reconized by the APA. the hen is too and she won 1st and best of breed at the pheonix AZ youth show

I do not show at all, but it is my understanding you can not show a non recognized APA color or breed at an APA show. Well let me rephrase that you can enter, but be disqualified.

You can show them Kassaundra, but they won't win. They can win in their variety, but that's it. If they have breed faults, like too much of a bow tie or wrong coloured legs, etc, they will be DQ. Or if they have all breed DQ like wry tail, squirrel tail, vulture hocks, etc.

if i breed my hen with a small bow tie (4 feathers on each side) to my roo with a big bow tie will the chicks have a big or small bowtie? sorry for all the questions but just curious.

Intersting, I didn't know that. I assumed if it wasn't apa, it wouldn't be in an apa show. That seems to be a little misleading though, someone could state a bird is "show quality" and sell it or it's offspring as such when it doesn't even meet apa standards. I guess that is where a persons own personal responsibility, and due diligence of knowing what you are buying comes in though.

That's exactly right.

I brought a frizzled silkie to the fall show (APA sanctioned) and he placed 1 in his category (was the only one there). I did not enter him to win. With silkies, no one is going to beat out the white silkies being shown here, no matter what the colour. Just can't do it.

One more easy DQ - feathers on the feet of non-feather footed birds. Look between their toes. Polish are well known to have this issue especially. I got DQ for lint like feathers between my female houdan's toes. I didn't even notice it before the show.

I am noticing a few more of my females from the same breeder have a bit of lint as well. The boys do not. What the heck could cause that? Something to watch out for...

Easter Eggers,

If you breed NN to NN you will get less feathers in the bow tie usually.

Wow, wow, wow! Beautiful birds!

This pen of NNFGE has just started laying again.

Would it be possible to breed a bantam NN to a class a serama. has anyone tried. would you have to use artifical insemination. I think a serama NN would be awesome
