Naked Neck/Turken Thread

hi i have a question. I've heard crested varities can sometimes get picked on for looking different than the rest of the flock. Do naked neck have simular problems. I'm would like to get one but not if it will be an outcast. I love variety and only keep 1 or 2 of each breed/color.

Let me put it this way....... I have a very bold friend that I really like but some of my other friends have a full head of hair but are a little bit rough so I pick at them cause of their attitude,

And just do you know NNs are docile chickens

Just a few pics
WOW. Just have to say thanks for posting those pics. Although I've been lurking on BYC for over a year, that's the first time I've seen a naked neck. That's one scary chicken. I think I might need one. With over 600 pages of posts I guess they're pretty popular. What is their main purpose? Eggs, meat, or just their looks?

Dual purpose and yard candy.

They are large meaty birds that do especially well in the heat, and are cold hardy too. They lay well usually a large brown egg unless mixed w/ a diff breed that changes the egg color.

Are they any easier to pluck than a fully feathered chicken?

I'm hoping to be the first to win big with a NN
I took a white NN cockerel and he won but like we all know he was the only one there.

But I'm working on that breed trying to make the best, I've got the whites and reds on my own since I could not find any one that would have to sell
I'll post pics I'm really proud of the way they look
Nava could you post pics of your reds

I'm too lazy to hook up my camera to upload the pics

NN have about one third feathers of a full feathered chickens so yes it does take less time to pluck a NN. I don't leave the skin on because I field dress but one of these day I just may try to pluck a chicken.
