Naked Neck/Turken Thread

You might enjoy this Kassaundra, (a message posted elsewhere) :
"anyone want to give me a naked neck chicken??? apparently if you breed a naked neck chicken with a broiler chicken you are supposed to get a naked chicken and i want to see if its true."
Where do these ideas come from????
Lol oh if only it was that easy!!!!!!

Reminds me of something my Gpa told my brother when we were young, he said if you sprinkled salt on a deers tail she would follow you home. That poor child spent all day on a cold dreary OK Nov day wondering around our Gparents back woods w/ a salt shaker looking for his "pet" deer to salt the tail.

Hooray! A NN thread! Alright, fellow Turken-folk, I need gender opinions. These little guys are only roughly 4 weeks old (maybe more..got at a critter swap), but they've both had huge combs like this for at least a week. No red on face yet, just the combs that I thought were huge for their age. Are they absolutely cockerels? >.< I'll be so disappointed if they are. The white(?) is skittish, but the black has SO much personality; I just adore him.

Congratulations on your new chicks.

I've only hatched one group of NN chicks, but it has been my experience that the males had lots of red around the jaw/ear area even at 4 weeks. I am guessing females. They may just be comeing from a LARGE combed background.

See all the red around their ears and jaw?
