Lol mine was almost an accident I really liked the cuckoo marans for his size, temperment, and off course the main reason I got him was the dark eggs his lady friend layed. I have almost always had at least one turken in my flock because of their sweet personalitys. When I started hatching my own eggs, as a step t words being more self sufficient, I was having trouble picking the turken eggs to set, so he was a surprise. I don't think that I will ship hatching eggs as I have no interest in becoming npip, and I understand that is required? Thank you for the kind words about my roo.

They are very much an underappreciated chicken. It's too bad so many are not able to see past the neck or regard them as ornamental, "useless".

When I moved out to my own place, discovered poultry catalogs were a thing and ordered a McMurray catalog. Ordered multiples of different breeds.. but only one turken, a sexed pullet in case I did not like them and did not want a NN rooster "ruining everything". Guess which one turned out to be my favorite? I absolutely loved that hen. And turkens are the only breed I still have from those early picks lol...

I don't know all the nitty gritty for npip but think that is correct as for shipping eggs across state lines. But um, it goes on all the time.
 
Lol I am not perfect but do try to follow the law as best as I can. I am flattered by your request. I still have a ways to go before I would be willing to suggest someone else hatch eggs from me....I do plan on setting up one of my pens with mostly turkens and running a trial hatch.....or 2 maybe 3 lol. But most of my girls are not laying yet as they were just hatched in march. So that's where the late fall thought comes in or maybe early spring depending on the eggs and how they size up.

If you can breed and hatch your own, any barred roo over a NN hen is best way to get barred NN in both sexes.

Non barred roo over a barred hen gives barring only to the sons. Daughters won't be barred. However you can still breed the barred son over any hen and get them in both sexes.
