An easy rule of thumb for sex linked colors: the mothers must be the sex linked gene/color to get sex linked chicks. And the fathers lack the same gene.

Examples: Barred/cuckoo hens- not barred/cuckoo roosters, silver hens- gold roosters, slow feather hens-fast feathering roosters, etc...

The reason sex linking works is because the hens will be able to pass it down only to her sons while the roosters will be able to pass it on to both sexes.

Silver is a sex linked gene.. using a silver rooster will give you all silver offspring no matter what color the hens are(if he's pure for silver).

Silver rooster x bbr is a silver x gold mating- silver duckwing is just a red duckwing with "silver added". While all chicks are supposed to be silver, sometimes roosters from this kind of cross will turn out "gold duckwing".. bright/light yellow on hackles and saddles.

Are you going to try for NN crele longtails? That would be beautiful!

This girl is from the Naked Neck Frizzle Green-egger pen:

She's a peculiar shade of blue and I love the dark skin.

I've got a whole pen of frizzled Naked Neck girls that are almost completely naked --- and not naked in a good way. I've been doing every thing I can to get them to grow back, but they just look pitiful!

Here are my two Naked Necks. They were the first chickens I ever got. They are still laying and they are the head hens.

Hey Everyone! I picked his little gal up from a pet store that orders from Privett Hatchery. It was the only black one in the bunch and I just couldn't leave without it!

It's suppose to be a pullet, so lets hope the sexers got it right!

This is Beaky, my only NN. My neighbor said he looks like Beaky the Buzzard from the Bugs Bunny cartoon. so the name stuck. He's not very friendly, though, and I hate that. Out of 18 chicks of the same age, he's the most timid. He's an unusual color, too. I've looked at so many pics of NNs and haven't seen one like him. What would he be called?
