Naked Neck/Turken Thread

Kev who is on this and the So Ca has been breeding Turkens for a long time and I plan on stopping at his place before I come to the meet. I see that you are interested in a LF Blue. PM Kev and talk with him about what you want and I will bring it down to the chicken-meet-up. Mary

I am told that they won't be as vigorous and they will start losing body type.
Bettter to breed a homozygous to a heterozygous.

Hi Pg! He's big to me, just over 8 lbs. Soon as I can rearrange some pens, I'm going to put some of the blue NN green-egger girls in with him (he has two feather neck melanotic green-egger girlfriends right now).
Got to rethink the single comb 'giant' NN project. The only clean blue sc NN boy got into something poison/toxic and I had to put him down. He started acting like he was blind and stumbling around (I suspect he ate datura seeds or castor beans. There was a youngster ate datura leaves this spring acted the same way, but it recovered.).
I'll put a sc blue NN girl in with the Jersey Giants and hatch another, but dang!

And the coloring on this young fella is interesting (from the blue/splash frizzle NN green-egger pen, but he didn't inherit frizz)

Sometimes I get them with leaky red or off color, but he got all that white (??).
And if he doesn't quit trying to go to roost with the hoodlum boys,

the owls might eat him.

I have to plead guilty to being the person from Del Mar who hatched the turken chicks. They were very cute chicks.
And yes I did get the eggs from Kev who has amazing turkens (if you like that that sort of thing:hide).

This one was my fav:

Looks like my little hen has had some travels...from the desert, to the sea, to the mountains.

Phage, is my hen supposed to be a bantam or a standard? Looks like she's stuck in the middle.
