CA Love picture #2, the offspring is standing so tall and proud and yes the "head" is exceptionally interesting.

love your posts, so much enthusiasm Best of luck with your new project !

ca, that #2 bird is really pretty. Nice contrast. I keep hearing how many nice roos there are out there ....

I know they're just doing what they're made to do. Makes me feel bad for the lot of them! #1 is a NN. Too bad he's mean. I hear NN's are nice, but like everything, you have your exceptions to the rule.

yoie, I have no idea what color your bird will be. I found with my mutts (EE's) that they changed after their first adult molt. I'd say you're going to have a partridge type color. Here's one of my EE's that started feathering out like your little NN.
When she was a baby chick: Now a year old:

She looks like a NN because someone is plucking her, but I don't know who...have never witnessed it and I'm in there a lot!!

Nava!! I'm not brave enough to incubate. Maybe one day. For now I just come here and enjoy the pictures and stories that all of you share.

Hi all!

Been a while since I visited this thread! I love seeing the pics of everyone's NNs. I currently have 15 eggs in the incubator due to hatch on the 25th that should all be NNs. They are the last offspring of my bb red roo, Big Mo', who I lost a few weeks ago. I'm hoping there will be a crele son out of this hatch to take his place

. The layer flock is lost without him and I miss not seeing him out in the chicken yard patrolling the area in his stately manner.

The dark face is sometimes called 'gypsy face' and is a required characteristic in some breeds such as sumatras. I like how he's looking directly at the camera.

Very likely his face will turn cherry red along his neck when fully grown.. about the only trace may be a black eyeliner. It tends to stay around longer on pullets/hens.

He also seems Ss+ (half gold half silver) which means if you breed him, should get both gold and silver patterned daughters, and silver sons too if bred with a silver hen.

Thanks! Very cool to learn all these VERY interesting facts about my chickens! I got some books on chicken genetics but its not easy reading for somebody that does not have a clue
