I second all of the above. Wonderful layers of large eggs, intelligent curious tolerant of weather extremes . I had a big beautiful turken rooster once and he knew how to be quite so not to be cause a problem with the alfa rooster who was a very small aggressive beauty of a game type breed.

I had a turken 2 yrs ago loved her nice layer fox got her rebuilt coop now have 20 turkens 6 americana's 1 happy family

I got my first NN's at the flea market. The guy selling them told they were ostriches. HA!
I bought 4 pullets because I felt sorry for their poor scrawny naked necks. They are so friendly every time I was
outside they followed me around like a dogs. It was hard to do any work because I was worried about stepping on them.

MY NN's are also noisy. They make all kinds of racket all day long. Don't forget what Confucius said. "A noisy hen is a happy hen."

Since then I have gotten a couple of batches from Ideal. I asked for buff because I had black. These babes have some big ole butts
on them and lay eggs like there's no tomorrow! I can't even hardly sit down and drink a beer without out of them trying
to sit in my lap or peck on my legs because they want some corn!

I also have 2 bad ass NN roosters. They are NOT very friendly. However, if you are black and have a orange/ yellow mohawk
haircut you are able to do pretty much what you want. They have 16 hens to take care of so they are real busy guys.
