I put a layer of cardboard in the nesting boxes in hopes it solves my broken egg problem…not sure if they’re breaking when landing or if I have an egg eater. I really hope it’s not the latter.
I went for a run.
I found a home for my “spare” rooster

Today was a rinse & repeat of yesterday and the day before.

Worked on the garage clapboard. Hubby is starting to remove the front section of the garage that was crushed when the big Oak fell.

Will watch TV and crochet after dinner.

I painted 5/6 of that wall.
I went for a run with Annie.
I put up the plastic sheets on the coop.

Before rain and a cold (41 degrees) thunderstorm moved in, I:
1. Constructed a 4 X 4 foot structure to keep snow off the chickens in the run during the looming winter;
2. Transplanted the last of the plants (2 roses and 1 rhododendron) and watered them in before winter; and,
3. Dug up elephant ears and canna lilies to store over winter inside for 2026.

Went to Mom's restaurant for breakfast.
Removed fern baskets from front porch.
Will write a letter of support to niece who is fighting alcoholism .

My oldest daughter came up for the weekend, so I cooked a big breakfast this morning.
Will meal prep husband’s work lunches later.
Then, off to help with the kids at Christmas play practice.

Need the wheelbarrow for other purposes. Am working on the big Whopper pumpkin today.

The pumpkin seeds have been collected. First batch of flesh is cooking.

Birds have already gotten some of the scraps. Will give them more later and probably even put some out for the deer.

I put a mouse trap in the green house. Now it'll be on my list to go check it every day, and rebait as necessary.
I also put some more hanging hooks (screws, actually) in there, in better locations.
I took a two mile walk, wasn't shot by a hunter, and will try my luck at it again. I walk on the road, not in the field or woods, wearing my neon pink hoodie and orange/yellow hat. I hear lots of shots out there now.

At least a half dozen deer walked through our back ravine, and one of them was a well endowed buck. I thought I counted 8 points.
