I woke up way too early to smear ointment on a chicken eye.
I'm breaking out the Diet Coke at 8am to stay awake while balancing accounts.
I will spend the rest of the day keeping the chickens cool (heat index of 94).

I cooked scrambled duck eggs and oatmeal for breakfast.
In a little while, I will sort beans to soak.
Does anyone else enjoy sorting dried beans?
Will change the sheets on bed and wash sheets to fold and put away.
And, I need to make a trip to the post office later.

Gooseberry pie

It smells wonderful.

Your Gooseberry pie looks enticing to eat, I can almost smell it.
The day before yesterday you suggested Apple Dumplings...I got the dough done resting in the refigerator then the headache got so bad, I was just quickly mixed the apple with butter/cinnamon/sugar and baked a big pie, looking rough too not anywhere nice like your. I was just wanting to do it quickly as my headache was getting worse.

Half of the dough left over from that and yesterday I baked the apple dumplings and you were right, I was eating it hot out from the oven, hot hot hot and bite bite bite, so yummy! Especially it is very cold over here, the oven baking gives out warmness, yummy smell and it is the kind of food that is great on cold day.

I do my best not to eat it all, as I often feel uncomfortable when I eat too much sugar.

I have not had duck eggs for at least 40+ years....as duck eggs is not available in supermarket stores here.

Ducks eggs have a different taste. They are much richer than a chicken egg.
Great to use in baking or even making homemade ice cream.

Took down the run panel I cut too short. Put up a panel that I cut correctly.

I'm going in and cool off. (90°F feels like 98°F, humidity 54%)

In Vermont here! It was 83 today, but humid. I cleaned house in the early part of day. My husband tended to our back yard hens and ducks. Later I checked in on my duck girl Sally who is nesting. She had one ducking hatched. I also put in my younger chicks and closed in the older hens. It has been hit and dry here so I had to water my very garden too. No big deal cooking or baking for me today.

Sally hatched another yesterday. Looks like 4 more but, I may need to go do a head check for egg survival tonight.
