I have finally seen these birds in person, and they are absolutely HUGE!! I didn't realize just how big chukars are!! Too bad my buttons quit laying, and I'm still waiting on fertility tests with my coturnix. The eggs I have checked here (by opening them) have looked fertile, I have been getting bad reviews on them hatching.

they are very large. but very easy going and easy keepers.

okay, now i am straight.

i accepted Shady Glades eggs. offered the Bourbons and yes, i still have some AK..send me your addy and they will ship tomorrow morning.

i will offer another set of Bourbon Turkey eggs. they can ship Wednesday thru Friday. we will be out of town the 16-20.

I got the bright idea to move my buttons outside when we had a week's worth of 80+ degree days....of course, no sooner did I do that, then it decided to rain for about 2 weeks straight so far, give or take 12 hours here and there....evidently the buttons don't like the rain!

But I have listed test eggs on the other poultry BST thread, two or three times now, where ya been?? I've got some going out tomorrow actually!

They were born in August, and by October I moved them outside.. just after Christmas we dipped to -35F, and the chukars stayed outside with a wooden box filled with hay, with no extra heat. They are the hardiest little boogers, and get along just great with my chickens! They share the run with them!

I just hatched out 160 of these little darlings, so I'm going to take a little break, which is why I have them available.
I will pack them like Fort Knox, Miss Jayne!

A person had some at the local auction this past Friday, adults. He wanted $10 each for them!

I'm sure that's not a bad price, but a bit too steep for me now! I could not get over how big these birds were, these looked much bigger than our pigeons or silkies!

ETA: So you have figured out how to sex them then? It is something about leg color isn't it? I imagine the guy at the auction had males, since that's the way things seem to work there. I know whenever I take quail there it seems I only have males.
