Yes, she was on last years grass hay and we switched her to this years second crop grass/alfalfa. But we were mixing it with her old grass hay. I think she has had this problem before and thats why her previous owner didn't want her. I didn't feed her much today and didn't give her any grain. But she's got a foal at her side so she needs to produce milk. Tomorrow I'll just give her the crappy old grass hay I guess. We'll see what the vet says on Monday. I hope she doesn't get worse before then.

Ok, my family still cannot agree on a name so I will pick my favorite and that will be the winner. I like Calico cali (I would just call her Cali). So, MLH if you want to pm me your address I will mail your prize out. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I'll keep the thread updated as to the Mares condition.

Also, if dried mealworms aren't the prize you'd like I can offer a half dozen bantam Cochin hatching eggs or maybe you'd like a cockerel or 12?

Too FUNNY!!! I offered to bring a 'horse trailer' full of cockerels to our big swap coming up here and so did everybody else. What is it with this year? My Ancona ducks (for the 7 of the hatch that I held back from sale) are 6 drakelings and 1 henny-duckling. Same for Orps from all shipped eggs. At least the Barnies are nicely split.....

I wanted to win the naming to hold out for Barnie eggs =:~)
