I name all my chickens (except Super CHicken) after family members. It makes is so much more funny to say things like "Uncle Devon just laid an egg on the lawnmower!" Or 'Grandma just pooped on the step!" hilarious!
I love this! I am a fan of themes (but avoid breakfast lunch and dinner
) Like herbs: Lavender, basil, Sage, Rosemary. Or flowers: Lilly, Rose, Daisy. Or you could go seasonal/weather: Summer, April, Rani, Winter. What else.... maybe favorite movie stars? ~ Learning they're personalities helps ~ I know, I'm a big dork
My girls are: Grace, Pearl, Summer, Alli May, Jasmine (Jassy), and Novella (after Novella Carpenter - love her book Farm City - Education of an Urban Farmer
I find a "Baby Names" book to be helpful, if you like "regular" girls' names. My 8-month old hens are Thelma and Louise, Henrietta, Sally (Silver Laced Wyandottes), Buffy (Buff Orpington) Goldie (Rhode Island Red), Big Mama (Light Brahma giantess), PRincess Polly (even bigger LIght Brahma, turned out to be the top hen of the flock) and newbie 3-day old chicks Wendy and Abigail, the Ameraucanas.
