Naming and recognising chicks

use a drop of food color on the tail or head. After a few weeks personality and a little difference here and there allow me to tell.

Hello and welcome to BYC! Glad you joined.
I wouldn't put colored dots on their heads as those can end up being perceived as pecking targets. I have never had more than 2 chicks of the same breed so they're always easy to identify.

I have a flock of 36, each a different breed or variation. Very easy to name.
I agree, marking them only targets them for being pecked by flock mates. Like identical twins, you will eventually see differences....
