Naming and recognising chicks

Hi all, newbie here from the UK

I was just wondering which ways everyone identifys their chicks. The lady we brought them from said you can put a coloured dot on their heads in felt tip to help you identify which ones which.

Are there any other ways people use??

My chicks are 4 days old and doing well I think

My farm store used colored sharpie marker to distinguish similar looking breeds in the same bin. . This is Lavender, my new lavender ameraucana.

Whatever you use, don't pick red or dark pink as a color since it can encourage the other chicks to pick and peck at it. Blue, green, etc don't seem to cause as many issues.
