My chickens are pets, so they all have names. I give them names based on what they look like, their breed, their personality, or sometimes it's just a random name that seems to suit them.
I can easily tell my chickens apart, even those that look identical to other people. They just look different to me. :confused:
 
Do any of your chickens know their names? Mine sure don't!
Mine do but I had their names picked out as I was driving home with them and the oldest ones are 9 years old. I enjoy my coffee with them in the morning and I talk to them, and use their names. The young ones catch on quickly.
 
Mine have names, but I mostly name them after food as a reminder of their ultimate purpose.

The Marans are French chicken dishes, the Dominiques are Boar's Head chicken lunchmeats (I'm a deli clerk), the Langshans were going to all be Chinese food but one is En Croute because he had pasty butt as a chick ...
