Chicken A x Chicken B

Does this mean a male A and female B, the other way around, or is there no convention regarding which comes first?

Hi! That's interesting and something I always meant to ask of 'chicken-breeders'.

I am a daylily hybridizer and the practice is to list the [pod parent (female) X pollen parent (male)] and thus and such from there.

I never thought that it might be different for birds, so I do it just the same (female x male), for the birds.
All my records are written just backwards then, haha. Doesn't surprise... I do many things I do bass ackwards here. If I can understand my breeding records, it's good.
