I've heard Fels Naptha soap being recommended to relieve an irritating rash some folks get from an invasive exotic tree here in So Fla, the Brazilian Pepper or Florida Holly tree. I'm going to try it myself on fire ant bites. They burn & itch & swell.

Found that Kroger's restock them here in town but they go FAST! I dont know why they sell so fast but something tells me the homemade detergent is the clue!

I was watching the TLC channel I think it was, the Dugger family..the family with 18 children...anyway, they made this detergent on the show and gave directions for it. It has been used by the Amish and Mennonites for many, many years so it is not a new thing...well, to me it was new

Who knew there was such a thing?

I use the Naptha, but a friend of mine uses lye soap with all the other ingredients. Anyone ever heard to doing it that way? She says the lye is stronger and cleans better.

Ozark, I use Zote for stain control. My DGD is 21 mo. old. Seems to always have something on her clothes. I wet the area, then rub it with the bar of Zote. Same for the soles of her & DGS socks.

BeccaOh, I have a tennis ball in the dryer. With the vinegar in the rinse water, and the tennis ball bouncing around in the dryer, there's no static issues. (It's sometimes a little loud if it a small load though.) LOL

Edit: I've talked with people who've used Zote, Fels Naptha, Ivory bar soap, homemade soap. They all seem to work.
