I've used a red light all along -- something I picked up from lurking here! I bought a parakeet toy last night, in hopes that would give the little she-devil something appropriate to peck at. Of course it caused quite the ruckus -- as of this morning they would go down to that end of the brooder, but the toy is still a bit suspicious to them. She's quit pecking so much, but she's still a little wench to the rest of them. So much for Salmon Favorelles all being quiet, mellow birds -- or this one is part gamecock!
I'm picking up some pine shavings today -- it'll be nice to replace the paper towels. They get them so nasty!
Oh please don't ask me to post pics -- I still haven't learned out to do it yet, and the photo program I've got doesn't like certain applications, which makes it even harder for someone so computer inept as me! So far, none of the chicks with the nasty butt have crusted over, just some gunkies around the vent. Since they are not having any problem pooping, I've just been checking them multiple times a day to make sure they are ok. I'm trying the molasses in the water as well (it won't give the rest of them diareaha(sp) will it?)
I think that's the best course of action?
