nasty water

Horizontal chicken nipples = the best invention ever! I was having the same issue; constant shavings and poo in their water. We bought the nipples from Amazon, installed them and my 5 week old chicks had it mastered within 15 minutes.

How did you install them? Would you be so kind as to show me a pic? I am struggling way the how. And when. When do we move them out of the plastic tub into a bit bigger spce? As of right now nipple system would not fit in the tub. They are about 2 weeks old.

This is what I did. Got my poultry nipples from Amazon. Used a Gatorade bottle and an apple juice bottle.

So here's my set up- just a repurposed gallon sized tea jug with three horizontal nipples (one on each side, the fourth side is flush with the brooder wall). It's worked out great. That's Rosie, my Buff Orpington. She had to pop her head in the pic....I call her Nosey Rosie for good reason!

love it! I was planning on using a 5 gallon bucket....wondering if it doesn't need to be that big and if a square bucket would be better rather than an round bucket.
