Native American Heritage Anyone?

Morning Y'all! No you weren't being offensive. And beleive it or not the registered people from the Western Band of Cherokee is a huge list, not including ones like us unable to "prove" it. I wasn't insinuating they weren't. Sometimes I don't communicate as clearly as I like either. My heritage is a sore spot. I have always been too white to be Indian and to poor to beleive I come from over a 1000 years of pure royal stock. I love this thread and all the wonderful people on it. I'm a horrible bookworm and like that little robot Johnny 5 "Need Input".

So I have come across tons of info in my own quest and love to share.Geographic travel of a family can also provide many clues. I didn't even know a group of Cherokee had left before 1817 when the Old Settlers did. They went to the St. Francois valley when the French still owned.All my NC to AR relatives arrived in Arkansas in 1817 but weren't registered. I hope my rambling helps someone. Feel free to PM or e-mail me if you think I can help. Or we may be cousins.

Try TNGENWEB they have a native section somewhere. Alot of Cherokee and other SE tribes settled there. Our ancestors were pretty smart to get ot of the DeepSouth when they could.Also trygoogling Tsalagi and see what you find. Thats our name for ourselves.

Oh and by the way -- I am blessed to still have both my grandmothers-- one 87 and the other one is 91- Both doing well and both mean as snakes!!!! lol
 
DH is cree

his blood line is frm in northern Alberta Canada...

he was adopted at birth so he never got to learn anything from his elders...

So sad that alot of Native children were adopted out and don't have their family history.
