Native Texan now in North Dakota says hi!

Hi! I'm Brittany. I lived my entire life in Houston, Texas. I moved last year to west North Dakota on 10 acres and just acquired my first set of chicks to start my flock. I am using them as therapists/companions/egg layers. I am already way more attached than I should be to my 14 baby chicks.

We are working hard to get their coop ready but we still have snow on the ground so they are snug and warm in their makeshift brooder in my master bathroom. I honestly really enjoy falling asleep to their little chatter and waking up to them in the morning. It's very relaxing.

My beginner flock is a mix of leghorns, barred rocks, and "Easter eggers" <- still trying to figure out what these actually are.
Welcome to BYC!!

Glad to meet you, Brittany and welcome to BYC. Best wishes getting that coop done in the snow! Wow. But I loved your description of how therapeutic and calming it is to have the chicks where you can hear them. They are such engaging little creatures, and you will find so much personality there as they grow up. Best wishes from New England!

Welcome to the coop! I use the Forums and Articles tabs at the top of the page to do research. You can get lost for hours. It's nice to know you are minutes away from getting help with questions and emergencies! I always check in the "What's New" section as well at the top of this page. This way I can read how I may have a similar question or help give some advice.
