Nats

i have a few and they are getting worse. how do i get rid of them before i start to lose birds?

I assume you mean gnats since Nats are a Washington DC baseball team. I've never known gnats to bother chickens to any extent.

Gnats, as in the little bugs, our chickens and guineas eat them like popcorn.

Bats here at least don't bother the birds and keep the number of mosquitos way, way down.

I noticed gnats are really bad this year I hate those bugs. I am going to be building some bat houses to try and get some bats in the area to help with the bug problem.

contact your local ag extension office as it sounds like an area specific problem.

mine love them too and its sooo fun to watch them stretch their necks out and run around catching them in flight.. I too have bats and I love them too.. have a ac pond right in front of the house and I never have sketters..

I have been told that gnats will suffacate chickens. The gnats get into the chickens nose. A con-worker of mine lost 23 of his chickens due to gnats. I know he purchased something for inside the coop that sprays every so often. I do not know what it sprays but I know he got it from our local ag store. I am afraid to let my 5 chicks out into the yard. They are weeks old.

I live in south Alabama and I knew they were bad just not how bad till I was working out side and found 3 dead chicks from them. I brought the rest into the house and they are using the spare bedroom for now till I can find something that will work to get rid of them. I wonder if a bug light would work.
