My 2 female Indian runner ducks have been laying on fertilised eggs (I bought off the web) for 29 days. They have discarded 5 eggs over the 4 week period.

How long do I leave them before I give up on the remaining eggs? Do I just need to be more patient.

Have you candled the eggs recently to see if the ducklings are still alive? Its best to not disturb the mother too much at this point- but you may need to intervene to save some of the ducklings now since they are late. I would suggest try and candle the eggs to see if they are still alive - or if they have broken into the aircell. That will then give you a better idea of how things are going and if you may get any ducklings.

I have just candled the eggs (some of them) and it looks like they are only 24 or 25 days old. It must have taken a few days for them to start to develop after I put them under the ducks.

Thanks for the advice.
