Your post happened to go straight to my email, no problem!

I forgot something. Turmeric. Super cheap, you can get it at the grocery store. It stinks and it tastes awful, but it's a powerful antiviral, anti-fungal and antibiotic. You can sprinkle that on her feed.

Hello everyone,
So yesterday I saw some round worms in a splat diarrhea so of course I jump on here to see what I can use naturally. I have 14 chickens. All I had on hand yesterday was a new jar of crushed red pepper flakes. I put them in a bowl and my adults went crazy for it . Ate it all up. However my juveniles were not allowed near it so this am I went to Walmart and bought a fairly large jar of ground cayenne pepper, cheap elbow macaroni and 2 large pumpkins. Came home and cut up the pumpkin in quarters set it out. Everybody ate on it for about 20minutes. Juveniles not thrilled with it as yet since they've never had such a thing. Worried they didn't get enough to de-worm them I cooked the box of macaroni and mixed in 1/3 of the jar of cayenne pepper. Adults devoured it and juvies ate a fair amount.

Does this sound adequate? Should I do this for a couple more days? Repeat in 10 days? ADVICE PLEASE. I don't want to loose any of my babies (reguardless od age they are all my babies) or have to stop eating my eggs.

Thanks,
Susie

Glad you posted this as I would also like an answer to this question. Also, how often should chickens be fed a natural dewormer to keep them safe?

I add powdered garlic to my chick feed everyday , ( ratio of 2.5 oz. to 1 gal of feed ) and I add apple cider vinegar to their water daily, ( 1 tbsp per gal of water ), hoping that will prevent worms. I been doing this since the chicks arrived here. so far so good.
they are now 7 weeks old.

Hi Candace ,read your post about using vitacost wormwood herbal combination for worming chickens.Have never used natural remedies before but am sick of using expensive chemicals. My chooks refuse to drink them anyway.I was wondering what kind of sweet food you use to mix the wormwood combination with.I don't think its going to mix very well with water as the herbs will just sink to the bottom .I know my chooks love cake that I have baked for my husband.I suppose thats a bit naughty for them to eat but its the only way I have thought to give it to them so far.Any advice ?Would appreciate some ideas.

Regards
Sue

Just mix it in with their feed.baking might alter the chemical composition so unless the instructions tell you to bake you'd best aďd it raw. Repeat treatment 10-14 days later depending onthe worm you're battling.

Hi Candace,we feed our chickens pellets.I don't think the herbal concoction will mix real well with pellets.I don't think it will mix well with liquids either.Still at a loss as to what will work best. I didn't mean, cook the herbal mixture in a cake mix.I meant to mix it with cake that is already cooked .So,no heat involved to alter the chemical structure of the herbs. What do you think. They love cake.Should I give the wormwood and other herb mix (cant remember the other herbs in the product) each day or just once and then repeat as you said in two weeks.

Regards
Sue
