@The Kooky Kiwi your photos are stunning!! What camera do you use?
Good Morning! You've made me rather nostalgic with this thread <3 I haven't enjoyed my photography in a LOOOOONG time... was just thinking I really need to take it up again :)

I'm VERY amateur - I use a Canon EOS 750D. Most of those pictures are with that camera and it's kit lens 18-55mm :)

The birdsnest fungi was with my macro 1:5 macro lens - It was when I was learning how to do stacked macro work :)

Wow!! 🤩 are those from a microscope?
This series were with the 18-55mm kit lens - but I added a budget magnifier to the end :) Those are pictures of ice and oil in water - with coloured fabrics or cards and a light under. One of them was ice on top of a textured glass.

I remember we had a horribly wet rainy week so I entertained myself using whatever I could find in my kitchen and freezer :P

I’m no professional but those photos certainly don’t look amateur to me! You should take it up again, I would love to see more of your work. I’m glad you found my thread!

Lol what ever works!

For anyone who wants to give some of those macro pictures a try - here is the gear I used:

Basic digital camera - any brand will do. (You can also get smaller point and shoot camera's which have built in macro lenses - like an Olympus TG5 - those take awesome macro photos!)

I use the kit lens that comes with the above camera. The Canon EFS 18-55mm lens that does 1:1 macro.

I purchased this combo online VERY cheaply. It's a Macro & Wide Angle lens combo. You screw this onto the end of your lens above. It provides additional magnification and widens the view of the lens a little bit.

You can also buy these VERY cheaply online. Extension tubes fit between your lens and your camera body. By extending the lens further away from the camera body - it creates a zoom effect which makes your subject appear larger in your camera frame (a cheap way of magnifying what you are photographing).
